May you live in interesting times

The saying "May you live in interesting times" is usually described as an old Chinese curse, but the earliest appearance in print seems to be in a 1950 story by the science fiction writer Eric Frank Russell. It occurs in Ernest Bramah's The Wallet of Kai Lung (1900), a series of tales set in a wholly imagined version of China - hence the belief that is is a genuine Chinese curse.

"May you live in interesting times" is the first of three progressively more awful curses. The others are "May you come to the attention of those in high places" and "May the gods grant your prayers".

Пословица "Чтобы ты жил в интересное время" считается старинным китайским проклятием, но похоже что она впервые появилась в печати в рассказе фантаста Эрика Фрэнка Рассела, вышедшем в 1950 году.

"Чтобы ты жил в интересное время" считается первым из трех увеличивающихся по силе проклятий. Остальные два это "Чтобы на тебя обратили внимание имущие власть" и "Чтобы боги выполнили твои желания"

Если мне не изменяет память, то китайское проклятие по-русски звучит
"Чтоб ты жил в эпоху перемен".

Не знаю, как это по-китайски, но по-английски interesting time это никак не "эпоха перемен". Может Гардиан слегка передергивает ?
