Some of us would say that this is the only way to enforce peace, if peace is what one wants above all. If one wants justice, that's fine, too, but justice is victory. First justice, then peace really means "I win", pure and simple. The anger, then, is caused by the logical necessity of admitting that one wants victory over peace, which makes one feel uncomfortable in this day and age.
