Кот всегда падает на лапы. Бутерброд всегда падает маслом вниз. Что произойдет если мы намажем другую сторону кота маслом?

Путем несложных логических рассуждений можно придти к нескольким возможным исходам события

1) равноверояно падение кота, как на лапы, так и на спину
2) кот зависнет в воздухе равномерно вращаясь
3) кот приземлится-таки на лапы, но сверху на него упадет потолок

Why does buttered bread always land butter-side down? And why do cats always land on their feet? What would happen if you butter the back of a cat and drop it?

Obviously, there are three possible outcomes

1) cat will land randomly
2) cat will hover, spinning inches above the ground
3) cat will land on its feet then the ceiling will fell on it

1. buttering a cat (any side) does not make it a toast (nor 'buterbrod'), it makes it angry.

2. and the way I heard it - tying a buttered toast to a cat's back - is also obvious, imho - cat will fall paws down, and bread, technically, will not fall at all, since neither his buttered nor unbuttered side will touch the ground. I don't think this counts as hovering.

Argh! My plans of getting investment for building cat-powered hovering platform are now endangered.

But... yes! We will name the cat "Toast"!
