Well - Homeland certainly is the best nightmare maker out here. I never expected such a strong ending of a weak story in the season. We have met the enemy and he is us... indeed.

What was especially crafty is that the ending exploded during the standard harmless wrapping up of a season. Umberto Eco used the same maneuver in the final conversation of Wilhelm and Jorge. You expect a closure, expect an apprehension of the murderer and get an apocalypse instead.

Unfortunately they plan another season.
