thats interesting...i always felt that verifying the accuracy of religious narratives is less important than deciding whether G-d exists, and whether He has placed us on a path to overcoming temptation/weaknesses/obstacles (possibly the "meaning of life(??)".
being religious brings a stronger awareness of these obstacles, but i often suspect that religious observance clouds the real way to overcome personal weakness.
