Actually, a solution for frequent happy-fucking-everything scandals is pretty simple - just stop to finance religious holidays decorations from public and corporate funds. I bet - when people begin to pay for x-mas trees, menoras and whatever else from their own pockets - all questions about proper and improper decorations will suddenly disappear.

Not really :) There always will be someone asking "why haven't you included N in display", and suing employers because they allowed their employees to offend someone.
In this case he was being an "inclusive asshole", but to me personally it does not matter if it's an inclusive or exclusive one. The only way to avoid such things would be to either forbid any display of anything that can be interpreted as a religious symbol, or forbid any lawsuits of any kind that deal with any kind of "moral trauma or suffering".

Well, the recent trend is just that - businesses are on their way to forbid any holiday displays to make themselves lawsuit proof.
