The key is to trust people to be who they are. Instead we trust people to be who we want them to be, and when they aren't, we cry.

Seems wise, but actually meaningless: we never know what other human being really is, we can only gather information about him or her and build our understanding on basis of our knowledge, expirience, comparison with ourselfs and other people. So we just have no choice - only to build models, expect those models to be true untill the reality shows their imperfectness and then to correct the models.

the key point, i think, is "be who we want them to be". thus, we tend to "dream", instead of trying to observe and to accept

Aye, but our models are usually overaffected by our hopes, instead of being weighted carefully.

In love it is OK. But in business it can be deadly.
