They say that women prefer "positive speech". You should not offer your solutions, when discussing a problem. You should offer your knowledge and your moral support.

I kinda agree, but when I finally understood the concept (and mind - understand is easier than use), I found out that the technique is equally welcomed by both sexes.

So may be it's all about men having thickier skin?

But there is a difference. A man that tells you about a problem he has, usually expects to hear a few ideas regarding possible solutions. A woman does not.
