I must confess - I do like sexy looking women characters in computer games. With one exception - when they wear The-Famous-Chainmail-Underwear-By-Boris-Vallejo. Or anything of that sort.

I don't buy armor that leaves belly button naked. If I have had to meet with with sharp steel I would prefer my belly button under as many layers of leather and chain as it possible. I don't buy exotic dancers with swords either. Swords are sharp. Every sensible person will keep them away from her intime parts. A story about knight who put naked sword between himself and naked woman in his bed is not some silly medieval joke.

P.S.
A note for book lovers - if a hero wear hidden chainmail and feel that cold metal rings touch his body - author should take pause writing fantasy and read some books. You can't wear chainmail over naked skin. If you want your skin to survive your first walk, of course.

;-)

Details, details.

Besides, haven't you ever seen a bellydancer twirling around with a sword on top of her head?

A blunt decorative sword I hope?

Actually, not always. I have a friend who does the sword dance with a functional blade.

Wis-3; Dex+3; Str-1; Cha+1.
Balanced. IMHO, playable. NOT a fighter, but playable.

I've worn real chain mail on naked flesh. It pinches but it is definately do-able.
I have more problems with nipples getting caught in the links!

Note that chest hair caught in the links also produces, hmm, interesting effects ;-)

...I don't even want to think about these bikini things and pubic hair...

Made a chainmail bikini. wearable, though heavy (made it non-transparent, i.e. VERY heavy).

That particular girl shaved...

I did wear chainmail over a naked skin. I can't say it's too comfortable (mostly because it is COLD) but that's all.

Imagine walking (let's forget about running and riding) in it for some time. Sweating. You will get sores all over the body.

It will be bad with modern replica. In real medieval chainmail you will also get rings corroded by your sweat.

I agree, nobody really walks with chainmail over a naked body. It unpleasant and totally unpractical. I just was questioning your point about "skin survival". In practice, there is a special special shirt that weared under a chainmail, usually made of heavy quilted fabric.

Exactly.

"Chainmail bikini" is a most stupid stereotype, but it's already stucked in the "collective mind" and stucked hard, sadly:)

Come on, it's not meant to be real. It's supposed to be sexy and exotic, that's all :)

But it is not real in either case!

Games are never real. But in some way they are connected to reality. And this connection make the difference between good game and bad game, good book and bad book etc.
