.
In Italy for thirty years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, bloodshed - but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock.

"The Third man" is a great movie of old. Because of the mood, music, absense of happy ending, et cetera.

But to me it is a great movie because of the cuckoo clock line above. It is sharp and sarcastic, as I like, but completely changes its meaning in the context. Because it is said to justify betrayal of a woman and selling of fake penicillin on a black market.

I call it cuckoo clock rule. Before you react to a word - see who is saying it. Same words can be pure truth in one mouth, thought inspiring in another, and filthy lie when said by a third man...

They often call it "women logic". Well, then that is where women are smarter.

I agree. The so called ad hominem argument may be very smart indeed, assuming it is not used just to smear the other party, but to look beyond the surface of its argumentation at the inner motives thereby getting the hidden meaning (which may not even have been intended by the other party).
